Tesla Assisted Driving, TAD (FSD), formerly FSD Supervised, is not on UK cars yet.
Here's the practical sequence I watch. No hype.
Step 1: Know what product you are waiting for
TAD (FSD) is supervised Level 2 assistance. Steering and speed together, with you still responsible.
On 8 October 2026 Tesla renamed FSD (Supervised) to Tesla Assisted Driving in the UK and Europe. Most people still search for "FSD". The name on the market is now TAD.
Step 2: Ignore the idea that EU yes equals UK yes
The Dutch RDW provisional approval (10 April 2026) opened a national recognition path inside the EU. Several member states have used it. See the EU tracker.
Great Britain is outside that automatic club. The VCA position is blunt: Article 39 decisions do not apply automatically here.
Step 3: Watch the VCA filing, not just UNECE meetings
For a supervised owner release, Tesla need a GB route through the Vehicle Certification Agency.
That means an application, a safety case, and whatever UK evidence the VCA ask for. I haven't seen a public "application complete" notice. Until one appears, treat filing status as unknown.
More detail: RDW approval and the VCA process.
Step 4: Keep an eye on R171 Series 02
UNECE Series 02 of R171 is expected around January 2027. It could support a cleaner standard type approval for supervised systems.
It isn't a UK launch button on its own. Tesla still need a compliant build, and GB still needs to recognise the result for UK cars.
Step 5: Separate supervised from unsupervised
Robotaxi-style passenger service permits under the Automated Vehicles Act 2024 have been in force since 15 May 2026. The rest of the Act's self-driving framework is aimed at the second half of 2027.
That's the unsupervised / robotaxi-shaped track. It isn't the same gate as supervised TAD (FSD).
Step 6: Use the site target, not a rumour month
My tracker target for supervised UK availability is H1 2027. That's an estimate.
If someone tells you "definitely June" or "definitely next week", ask for the VCA document. There usually isn't one 😎
